25 Times When Pallets Stole The Show
Wood pallets have been around for decades as mechanisms for shipping and storing larger items (among other things). Recently, however, wooden pallets have become much more than a once-and-done packaging piece. They’ve become a useful resource in home décor and design.
They’re pretty easy to find for cheap (or even free!) and are a great way to add some rustic charm to your home. The slats come in handy for storage and the wood looks fantastic either plain or with a coat of paint slapped on. Used by beginner to professional DIYers in projects from wall coverings to large and small furniture pieces to home décor accessories, wood pallets can be disassembled into wood planks that can be used for any number of projects. The wood can be like new, rustic with patina, or somewhere in between. The ideas are abundant, only limited by your imagination and skill level.
Where can you find these pallets? Once you decide you want to plunge in, you’ll see they are everywhere! On the side of the road. Beside store dumpsters. On Craigslist and Freecycle. If you see some at a big-box home improvement store, always ask before you take in case the store is recycling them. Often, depending on the age of the pallets, they may be partially disintegrated or unusable. Use good judgment in hauling them home but know you can always put them out for the trash if they don’t work out.
From storing items, beds or coffee tables to window boxes, shoe cabinets or comfortable rockers, a wooden pallet is anything but waste timber. Perfect for a lounge area in the balcony or a lovely corner in the garden, wooden pallets can be combined, remodeled and fixed up in practical desks, chairs, bookcases, tables and beds.
There are many ideas with pallets out there and some of them have unfortunate results. We created a gallery with 39 times when pallet furniture looked stylish and polished.
Enjoy.
